Investing For
Climate Action

Many communities in Central America and the Caribbean are particularly vulnerable to climate change. Unreliable access to electricity is common, and many countries rely on expensive and dirty sources of energy to meet basic needs.

At the same time this region’s natural resources and weather offer tremendous potential for renewable energy generation at a reasonable cost.

Our purpose is to invest in sustainable energy infrastructure that improves access to clean and reliable energy sources, strengthens economies and builds climate resilience.

Why we focus on Central America
and The Caribbean

  • Caribbean Basin countries experience high oil price volatility and high electricity prices of up to US$0.50/kWh

  • Clean energy represents just 6% of total energy generation in the Caribbean; energy efficiency can drive savings of $0.15 to $0.30+  per kWh

  • Countries across the region are re-framing policy to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency

  • We have deep networks and a strong pipeline of opportunities to contribute towards gender-balanced, sustainable growth

  • The Funds have approved deals in place representing ~70% of existing committed capital

  • The existing portfolio of 14 deals is well-diversified by sector (solar, hydro, biomass, off-grid, and energy efficiency) and country (Central America & the Caribbean)

  • Currently conducting a $37 MM second raise to fund strong near-term pipeline of deals already in due diligence
