Impact Investing with Deetken Impact - Make a global impact

What we do

We invest in emerging economies to generate long-term returns while contributing to sustainable growth and prosperity.

We prioritize returns and capital preservation, thus we strategically hand-pick and rigorously assess our limited number of investees. As impact investors, we maintain high standards for sustainability and financial performance, leading to attractive and previously unexplored avenues of growth.

Impact is core to our investing approach. We invest in businesses across Latin America & the Caribbean that significantly improve lives in under-served communities, vitalize economies, advance gender equality, and strengthen climate resilience. We go beyond just providing capital to accompanying investees through strategic advice and customized engagement.

Deetken Impact Makes a Difference.

Projects Funded

These are some of the social and environmental impact projects Deetken Impact investors have financed.

Electrifying Rural Colombia

Dispower is a Colombian company dedicated to maintaining and operating off-grid solar systems in non-interconnected zones, which cover 52% of the country and house 1.9 million people, many without electricity. By providing clean energy to homes, schools, businesses, and infrastructure, Dispower supports a government-led initiative to electrify remote areas. Through community engagement, education, and customer service, it helps vulnerable communities overcome isolation and infrastructure gaps, making sustainable energy accessible to those who need it most.

DISPOWER

Affordable Housing in Guatemala City

The Villa Luz housing project in Guatemala City is transforming affordable urban living with over 300 high-quality apartments. As social housing under the Guatemala Insured Mortgage Promotion Institute (FHA), it offers subsidized mortgage terms, expanding homeownership for low- and middle-income families. Strategically located, Villa Luz reduces long commutes while providing a safe, well-connected community with family-friendly amenities, including an on-site daycare. Strong demand underscores the need for dignified housing, with over half of the units purchased by women, highlighting its impact on expanding homeownership access.

VILLA LUZ

Caribbean's Largest Solar PV Park

Deetken Impact Sustainable Energy made its first investment in the Monte Plata Phase I solar project in 2021, supporting the Dominican Republic’s transition to clean energy. Originally commissioned in 2016 as the Caribbean’s largest solar project at 33.4 MWp, Monte Plata expanded in 2024 with Deetken Impact’s investment in its 42.2 MWp Phase II, bringing total capacity to 73.4 MWp. The expanded facility will generate 116,000 MWh of clean energy annually, preventing up to 1.5 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions over its lifetime.

What Our Investors Are Saying

Given its pioneering role within the impact investment ecosystem in Latin America & the Caribbean, Deetken Impact has helped us better understand this emerging landscape by offering a unique opportunity to invest in several Funds as a Limited Partner, while directly co-investing in those companies that best align with our Family Office’s mandate.
Hector Gil, Managing Director, Auria Capital

At Genus, our mission is to help our clients achieve their financial goals and make a positive difference for our planet. We do our research to identify high quality investments that have real, tangible impact on some of the world’s most pressing socioeconomic and environmental challenges. Many of our Impact Investment Counsel clients are accredited investors who are interested in investments that advance gender equality. Our job is to find opportunities that suit their overall financial and impact objectives. Deetken Impact was an excellent fit for these clients, offering impact investment products with stable cash flows, a strong track record of performance, and a clear commitment to empowering women in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Mary Lou Miles, Head of Wealth Management, Genus Capital Management

As an early member of the Capria Network, we have witnessed Deetken Impact’s evolution over the past ten years and it’s been amazing to see their role in expanding impact investing in the Global South. They have been successful in crafting alternative investment structures specifically designed for impact entrepreneurs looking for non-dilutive, self-liquidating, and flexible investment options.  And they’ve provided much needed support to Latin American companies that incorporate social and environmental objectives as an integral part of their business models.
Will Poole, Managing Partner, Capria Ventures

Having known Deetken Impact for quite a few years and invested in two of their impact funds, we’ve got to know their leadership team well and think they are very good. They not only have a great investing track record but they are thoughtful individuals whose approach achieves a fine balance between financial return and positive impact creation. The technical assistance support and accompaniment they provide to their portfolio companies, including their work on gender smart business practices, is quite unique and ensures the alignment between impact goals and business performance.
Bill Young, President, Bealight Foundation

We’ve known Deetken Impact for a long time, as fellow builders of the Canadian impact investing ecosystem. At Rally Assets, we work with mission-oriented investors looking to create positive social and environmental impact alongside a financial return. Deetken Impact’s Ilu Women’s Empowerment Fund has been a clear fit for some of our clients, including Rally’s own funds because of its strong intention to improve lives and communities, targeted investing to realize that intention and strong reporting of its impact performance.
Kelly Gauthier, President, Rally Assets

We are committed to being the change
